Prologue

What do you want in life? Is it a job, money, power, fame or happiness? Having problems and failures in life? Is life clueless about what to do and how to do?

No matter whether rich or poor - we all have one asset that is equally distributed among all - Time! Every one of us has precisely only twenty four hours in a day. But, some people achieve wealth, power, fame and so on, with very little effort; others with great difficulty; still others fail altogether to reach their goals and ideals.

Why is this so? Why should some people realize their ambitions easily, others with difficulty, and still others not at all?

In a recent survey conducted by cell phone manufacturers it is found that 97% customers know about and use less than 7 % features of a cell phone. If that is the case with a tiny gadget, we can imagine the situation about the most complicated gadget in the universe, mind. Most people don't know about mind's capabilities and how to use it properly. When the power of mind is fully understood and applied, its effect will be seen to be marvellous.

Over ages many teachers and authors have contributed to a knowledge bank. Their contributions have been used in this book. But no part of this book is meant to promote or criticize any religion, race, community or nation. For the sake of convenience, words such as 'man' and 'he' are used. But this book is equally intended for both men and women.

Our mind-set is a product of parents, teachers, society, environment etc. They shape our beliefs and influence how we understand and either accept or reject new information. Some concepts of this book may sound unbelievable or old fashioned. But don't reject anything too early. Be more patient with unfamiliar words. Allow new concepts to sink in mind and expand you into new ways of thinking. They have survived the tests of time, and remain amazingly ever new, practical and universal.

This book is the result of author's education and experience over fifty years in India and the USA. This book aims at blending philosophy with practicality. This book can also be described as a combination of the Science of Life and the Art of Living. You are given the principles that have worked for many successful people. Using those same principles you too can make a beautiful picture of your life.

We cannot satisfy our stomach by mere reading about delicious foods. We must eat to satisfy hunger. To know food only theoretically means remaining physically hungry. Similarly this book won't be of much use if you just read it for entertainment and put it aside. It will be more useful if you make it a practical guide in daily life. You need to absorb the principles and apply them in everyday living. Individual topics may seem incomprehensible in the initial reading. But you may understand the whole book in perspective, eventually. This book is about your life!

Life is a game similar to chess. Knowingly or unknowingly we all are playing against a great opponent - Time. Whether we make a move or not, soon all the pawns will be removed and the game will be over. Time flies away.

The secret of success has been indirectly mentioned several times throughout this book. If it is directly named, it may deprive you of the benefit and joy when you find it on your own. Hence it has not been directly named but merely uncovered and left in sight for those who are 'ready and prepared' may find it. Will you find the secret?
